Poem: I looked up from my desk and discovered
The vascular highway of a dew drenched leaf.
I am a trespasser in a vast kingdom of birds.
I beseech the hawk for confidence,
the heron for elegance, and the mockingbird for
forgiveness.
Each mushroom is a hat atop the brain of the earth.
There exists a moth with the plump tail of a lobster
and the needle nose of a hummingbird,
and it hovers over purple and green
as a mothership.
The pipe organ villas of a mud dauber.
If you stare at your open palm long enough
you’ll discover the hand of a gorilla, a chimpanzee,
orangutan.
